What is a Parenting Plan?

What is a parenting plan? A parenting plan is a really useful and important document used in family law and divorce cases when parents are living separately, but there are children involved. Essentially, this document tells the court where the child is going to be living, when the child is going to be seen by the parent who the child is not living with, where pickup and drop off will take place, what types of activities the child might participate in. It really maps out a lot of the issues that might have been in dispute, to make things easier as the pending and underlying case is resolved.

Each parenting plan is different for each family. In my opinion, the more detailed they are, the better they are because they leave less room for confusion, ambiguity, and error. In either instance, you want your parenting plan to be a unique document that always upholds your child’s best interests.
