About the Fairfield Probate Court
The General Court, known as the Legislature at the time, established the Fairfield Probate Court, located in Fairfield County, Connecticut, in 1666, making it one of the oldest courts in the United States.

- Appointing guardians for the developmentally disabled

- Appointing guardians of the estate of minors
- Awarding custody of the remains of a deceased person
- Granting name changes
